Exercise One

Root Before You Reach

Root Before You Reach

Return to Your Center

Look at the tree.

It leans toward the water - not because it is unstable, but because it is alive.
Its roots remain in the soil.
It reaches without uprooting itself.

Now turn inward.

Where are you leaning in your life right now?

Toward love?
Toward ambition?
Toward visibility?
Toward growth?

Name one thing you are reaching for.

Pause.

Notice what happens in your body.

Does your breath shorten?
Does your belly tighten?
Do your shoulders brace?

Stay for three slow breaths.

Then bring attention to your feet.
Your seat.
The ground beneath you.

Let yourself feel supported.
